My story begins when I started to use cannabis at the age of 12, and although I do not recommend children using cannabis for recreational purposes, I myself was one of those children. I struggled with childhood and adolescent depression for the majority of my upbringing.
It wasn’t until I had my own son and experienced debilitating postpartum depression that I connected the dots between cannabis, wellbeing, and nutrition. I say nutrition because I turned my pre-motherhood life around after studying to become a dietitian. Understanding how food effects the most intricate parts of the body was so incredibly fascinating to me. And when I’d go home from school to take that bong rip, I had no idea the cannabinoids were affecting my endocannabinoid system, much like how food affects our metabolisms.
Once I cracked the code of cannabis use to better my health and rid myself of postpartum depression, I decided that I would dedicate my time on this Earth to spreading this knowledge and starting the conversation around natural medicines as my contribution to mending our broken society. Although we go way back, I now use cannabis responsibly and with a sacred respect. My partner and I are comfortable with using cannabis to enhance our abilities to parent.
I believe this plant should be in every household that is experiencing the heaviness of life and that this is nothing to be afraid of. Cannabis is nothing to resist, rather something ancient to welcome back as a safe healing modality.
Since incorporating cannabis as a wellness tool into my home and daily health routine, I have become a certified cannabis coach and now run a cannabis lifestyle blog called Mother Indica. Combined with my nutrition degree and fierce passion for cannabis in the home, I now help women and mothers struggling with depression, anxiety, and weight gain, by introducing cannabis into their diet and self love practice. You can visit Mother Indica (www.motherindica.com) to read more stories like this, articles regarding cannabis education, some of my favorite infused recipes, and my current services.
